Crossovers and layering, form and material are central to Helen Pritchard’s practice. Pritchard combines the traditional material of painting and sculpture with every day objects like netting, wire, mesh, plastic and packaging. Often her experimental use of materials, such as net curtains, chopsticks or perfume bottles, brings a sense of domestic to her work. There is, however, always a narrative behind each material, of its past and journey. Each work is not confined to a certain period of production, the artist continuously reconfigures earlier works into new inventions, made from found and discarded materials collected in her studio, to be reconsidered over time.
