‘Specialty insurance is a special industry’
Chalani's experience on the actuarial graduate programme.
Join a global cohort of graduates as you undertake a structured learning programme with hands on experience, equipping you with the skills essential for your future career.
Thanks for your interest in our graduate programme. This is where you might expect us to do a full-on sales pitch around what a great programme it is and what a fantastic business we are to work for.
So, who are we to disappoint?
If you want a graduate role that stretches and challenges; that has you doing real and useful work from the off; provides a structured learning programme designed to develop essential skills; and that sets you up for a rewarding career in insurance, then we’re a pretty good bet.
Whether on our Technology, Underwriting, Actuarial or Finance pathways, our 18-month graduate programme will act as a springboard for your future career, providing you with the tools and knowledge to make a difference from day one.
You don’t have to be an insurance expert when you join – that’s why we’ve curated a specialised training plan to support you on your Hiscox journey. You’ll participate in in-person and virtual training sessions with your fellow graduates, developing key skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide the tools for success.
You’ll receive full support for professional qualifications which are aligned to your graduate pathway, including financial support for study materials and exams. These qualifications will complement your career, providing the foundations for your learning and development journey.
You’ll also have the opportunity to take ownership and tailor your learning journey through your own full LinkedIn Learning licence, taking on additional accreditations and courses centred around your specific interests and role-related skills.
Through our Early Careers team, your individual managers, and dedicated graduate buddy, you will receive targeted support throughout the course of the programme. Whether this is in the office or working from home, you’ll be able to connect with your team in an effective and flexible way, finding a balance that works for you.
This support starts from Day 1 with our graduate induction week hosted in London, where you will develop your knowledge of Hiscox, the insurance industry and key concepts. You will meet the rest of your global cohort, taking part in a variety of activities and sessions to help kickstart your Hiscox career.
We want to invest in your long-term future at Hiscox, from the start. You will join on a permanent contract with a wide range of great benefits, and at the end of the programme, you will have the opportunity to move into a related role within your home business unit.
As a rotational programme, you’ll gain breadth of experience across your chosen specialism and have the opportunity to try out different roles, helping you build a wide skillset and rounded view of the area you’re working in.
With each rotation you’ll be given challenging work and clear deliverables – this is definitely not job shadowing! Your rotations will open up a range of career options to you, positioning you well to accelerate your career after the graduate programme.
We are committed to creating an environment where all our people can thrive; from employee networks which focus on building communities and support, to the Hiscox Foundation which helps our people make a bigger impact for the causes they care about most – put simply, we are a business that cares about people.
Joining the graduate programme means you will have the opportunity to give back, supporting our DE&I and CSR initiatives, taking ownership and bringing positive impact. At the heart of this lie our core values which play an important part in our strategy, as well as how we operate as a business.
