Gareth Cadwallader is a painter of hyper realist scenes. His paintings are portals onto quiet and reflective moments, often featuring people going about their everyday activities. There is, however, a level of ambiguity in these highly detailed works. The scenes are open-ended and unresolved, and the viewer is left to draw their own conclusions. Intimate in scale and imagery, Cadwallader’s paintings are about absorption: the viewer is forced to get close up and pore over the canvas and the characters depicted are themselves consumed by their own private moment.
