Sculpture in the City, the free, outdoor exhibition is back for its 12th edition, with 18 contemporary public artworks on show across the City of London.
London’s Square Mile is once again adorned with inspiring and thought-provoking outdoor works of art, free for all to visit thanks to Sculpture in the City.
As strong supporters of public art, Hiscox has been a proud partner of Sculpture in the City for over a decade, and this year’s exhibition continues to provide both exciting opportunities for emerging artists as well as revisiting renowned works of art in some surprising new settings.
The sculptures will be on display until Spring 2024 and include nine new artworks, some monumental in scale, which join seven works retained from the 11th edition, as well as two permanent acquisitions.
Each artwork has been carefully selected for its ability to engage with and respond to the City of London’s ever-changing urban landscape, and with 18 artworks by 17 artists from 10 countries, this year’s exhibition represents the most global and diverse edition to date.
From Arturo Herrera’s colourful Untitled, 2022 - created in vinyl and reflecting the dynamic movement of people using the space and the mechanical stairs of The Leadenhall Building’s escalators – to Phyllida Barlow’s untitled: megaphone, 2014, towering six metres high outside 22 Bishopsgate, implying the announcement of a performance that has yet to begin, there is so much to explore.
