London (7th July 2014) – Specialist global insurer Hiscox has appointed Simon Zelenoy to develop its London Market business in Brazil.
In this business development role, Simon will be responsible for finding attractive new opportunities in core lines of business for Hiscox such as marine and energy, property, contingency and fine art. All leads will be referred back for underwriting through Lloyd’s in London. Based in Lloyd’s representative office in Rio, Simon will report to Hiscox London Market Upstream Energy Line Underwriter, Carl Day.
Simon brings 22 years of insurance and reinsurance experience to Hiscox, having worked as an underwriter, a broker and a risk manager within the oil and gas and power utility industries. This diverse experience means he knows not only what the buyer wants but also what the underwriter needs. He joins Hiscox from Argo Syndicate in Brazil where he spent two years as director, but has also worked for Willis as director of their treaty division, JLT, Heath Lambert and Aon.
Carl commented: “Simon’s appointment is an important step for us as a business as it will provide us with increased access to an attractive market. Simon’s contact base will lead to good opportunities matched against our appetite across identified key classes. We are both keen to start building a bigger Brazilian book right away.”
