Prem Sahib’s sculptures and paintings appear abstract and minimal, formal and precise. However they arise from ideas around sexuality, intimacy, desire and community. Your Disco Needs You X looks like an abstract painting but it is actually a digital print transferred on ceramic tile. Tiles often feature in Prem’s work and refer to public toilets and bathhouses, meeting places frequented by some members of the gay and queer communities.
